Here you will find paintings from realistic to Ab Ex, unique works in glass and ceramics, art reference books and Asian artifacts from our past  Some may eventually be listed on our site or shown in our gallery. You may have to contact us for a more complete description. Our two main websites are LSDArt (for more affordable and sale art & collectibles) and  Davenport & Shapiro which offers a selection of our fine art offerings. Both Sites provide full descriptions and often artist biographies (click to see example) or links to artist's websites. There you can also check our show schedule.

We have opened Davenport & Shapiro Gallery at 37 Newtown Lane in East Hampton. Our current fall hours are noon to 6 Thursday and Monday - noon to 6 or 7pm Friday and Saturday. Open other times by chance or appointment. Feel free to call 631-537-3324. We live in the neighborhood. We will be closed much of January and February for alterations, but, again, just call us and we'll be more than happy to open for you.

Consider this site like an Antique Mall designed to give you an idea of some of the less expensive, often unique, objects, prints, paintings and especially ceramics that we can offer you. The fact is that given the high costs involved in doing art and modernism shows and the time and expense of taking pictures, adding descriptions and uploading to auction sites or our own site have led us to this alternate idea ... letting you browse and ask us questions in much the you would in an antique center, where you go to a counter and ask to see something in a consignor's cabinet!

Paintings and sculpture are priced as temporary bargains or close-outs, marked up an average of 20-25%. Beware, once they make it onto our website or travel to a show, we have to raise the prices to a level which can pay the expenses. In many cases we show you our gallery price.

This web site is under continuous construction and change. Frankly, we need to clean up some of our shelves, photograph and categorize our offerings. In the meantime, you are welcome to shop www.LSDArt.com, or ask us whether we have things in your interest area.

We ship at cost, and will bring to one of our shows for your pickup. 

Fine Print: Most of our mechandise is pre-owned; some normal wear should be expected. All pieces are sold as is. When we sell an item on ebay we make every effort to note every blemish, but on items in our gallery and on the website, as a matter of practicality, we only note repairs or unusual problems, but we will be happy to examine carefully any piece you are interested in and issue a more detailed description and provide additional email pictures if desired.
 
We make every effort to attribute accurately and go well beyond the protection offered by any auction house.
 
Guarantee: We offer an unconditional guarantee for 5 days from date of purchase or receipt from shipper and an unconditional refund of purchase price with an expert letter disputing attribution for 30 days. We also extend an unconditional sales credit for one year, regardless of reason. All guarantees assume return of the merchandise to our gallery in the same condition as sold.
   
On consigned pieces, we cannot offer the same extended year guarantee, but in such cases, that limitation will be noted before purchase.
 
Please note, returns outside of these stated conditions and all returns of wholesale or discount sales are subject to a 2.5% per month (minimum 10% / maximum 25%) restocking fee.
         
Lay-a-ways are available. In general, we require 10% down and 10% a month, although we are flexible on payment schedule. In the event of cancellation, after 48 hours, the 10% down payment is forfeit. Any balance will be returned within 30 days. Late payments, not previously cleared with us, may be subject to a 2% surcharge after 15 days. Cumulative late charges are also forfeit in the event of cancellation.
 
Shipping: We use FedEx, UPS or the Postal Service for domestic shipping. Insurance is at your option at carrier’s rates. Our charge for boxing is $2-5 plus special boxing if necessary. We pack carefully, double-boxing more delicate items. Inquire on cost of shipping of large paintings and on shipments to international destinations. Merchandise can also be picked up in Bridgehampton or at any of our scheduled shows. We are always happy to ship on your account with any carrier.
   
NYS Sales Tax in our county is 8.625%. Shipments within New York State are at locally applicable sales tax rate. Shipments outside of New York State are not subject to sales tax. Dealers are asked to fill out a tax exempt certificate or send by fax or pdf at time of purchase.
